Thunderbirds Charities generously granted $25,000 to Live & Learn’s transformative Economic Empowerment for Women program. This program supports women who are experiencing poverty, homelessness, and domestic violence. In the two-year, intense program, women complete their education, begin a good-wage career, and end their reliance on government assistance. They build a brighter future for themselves, their children, and the community.
The funding provided by the Thunderbirds Charities will support direct financial assistance for 200 women in 2023, as they work their way through Live & Learn’s program. This financial assistance can help with costs that would otherwise prevent a woman from moving forward with her education and career. Often, these costs include bus passes, job-required uniforms, internet access, eyeglasses, and similar necessities.
As Executive Director Kristin Chatsworth explains, “We see women who are absolutely determined to earn their certifications and start a great career. Thunderbirds Charities is making sure that nothing stands in their way, and we are so grateful.”
The demand for Live & Learn’s Economic Empowerment for Women program has grown dramatically in the past three years, since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Thanks to generous donations and funding from groups like the Thunderbirds Charities, Live & Learn has been able to grow, helping more Maricopa County women improve their families’ economic situations.
