With a belief that the zip code of a child should not dictate their access to music education, SOUNDS Academy will use a gift from Thunderbirds Charities to support our Comprehensive Music Program, providing 500 underserved and at-risk youth with a high-quality music education during the 2023-2024 school year. We will offer full scholarships to youth in all levels of our Comprehensive Music Program to families earning less than 150% of the federal poverty level. We have provided more than $300,000 in scholarships since inception. Our multi-level, music education program aims to heighten the personal, professional, and academic trajectories of at-risk youth residing in low-income, predominantly minority communities. With our progressive approach, we will use music as the vehicle to teacher the character values of creativity, leadership, perseverance, resilience, and teamwork.
