The Thunderbirds Charities grant will fund the GAP Prevention of Homelessness program which is designed to offer immediate and flexible assistance to individuals facing temporary challenges, helping them maintain productivity and remain active members of society. Additionally, the grant will cover move-in costs for employed individuals on fixed or poverty-level incomes who are unable to save.
Our observations show that current rehousing systems often prioritize chronically homeless individuals for most financial programs. While this is crucial, it often limits support for those who need minimal assistance to quickly return to a productive life. This grant directly addresses this gap, significantly enhancing our capacity to serve individuals often overlooked by traditional support systems.
This partnership also enables us to continue providing compassionate and practical assistance as individuals transition from crisis to stability, ensuring they have the resources needed to regain independence. Preventing homelessness benefits the community by reducing taxpayer costs, improving public health, increasing community safety, and enhancing social well-being.
