Foundation for Blind Children Receives $61,000 Grant from Thunderbirds Charities

The Foundation for Blind Children is pleased to announce it has received a $61,000 grant from Thunderbirds Charities These funds will support FBC’s Teen to Work program and serve approximately 18 visually impaired teens, ages 15-19.

The Teen to Work program is a six-week residential program on the campus of ASU that prepares students for their first experience in the job market. Students will gain real life experience in working and living on their own.

“Thunderbirds Charities have been a part of blind students’ lives every step of the way: to the top of mountains, across canyons and into college,” said Marc Ashton, CEO Foundation for Blind Children. “Only 30% of blind adults in the U.S. work. We know our adults can work. Our graduates are engineers, judges, attorneys, teachers, business owners and even doctors.”
