Thunderbirds Charities recently awarded $40,000 to UPWARD for Children and Families in support of the Integrated Childcare Program for kids with and without special needs in an integrated setting. Upward focuses on services in three areas: 1) special education for children in grades Pre-K through 12 who have severe disabilities and are medically fragile, 2) inclusive child care for infants and children with and without disabilities, and 3) outpatient therapies for children with mild to severe disabilities.

“The support of Thunderbirds Charities has been critical for UPWARD over the years,” said CEO Doug Carter. “They have been very generous to us. The Pandemic has been difficult on families. One parent who is a healthcare provider at a local hospital said, ‘UPWARD has been a savior for our family because my wife and I both have to work during the pandemic.’ ”
