Thunderbirds Charities Funds Victim’s Services Program

June 5, 2018 – Tempe, Arizona

Every 22 minutes someone becomes the victim of a violent crime in Arizona. When victims do not have the opportunity to get help, many turn to substances or struggle with overwhelming feelings and suicidal thoughts. There is extensive need in Maricopa County for services for those impacted by violent crime, and the wait list continues to grow.

Thunderbirds Charities, the charitable giving arm of the Thunderbirds – hosts of the Waste Management Phoenix Open presented by Ak-Chin Indian Community, is partnering with La Frontera Arizona / EMPACT-SPC to help make a difference for these victims. With the generous support of a $55,000 grant from Thunderbirds Charities, many victims will get the support and healing they need to pursue justice, recover from pain, and thrive. La Frontera Arizona / EMPACT-SPC is grateful for this partnership with Thunderbirds Charities, and the opportunity to continue to serve those in need.

The Trauma Healing Services Department at La Frontera Arizona / EMPACT-SPC has been providing immediate and long-term support to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence since 2002. This support includes providing a 24-hour Trauma Healing Services hotline, dispatching crisis teams for emergent support, providing individual and group therapy, and assisting with advocacy and criminal justice needs. All services are free of charge regardless of insurance status, and are available in Tempe, Glendale, Maricopa, San Tan Valley, and at the Phoenix Family Advocacy Center.

Victims and family members can access these services by calling the 24-hour Trauma Healing Services hotline at (480) 736-4949.
