Foothills Caring Corps is honored to receive a $25,000 grant from Thunderbirds Charities. Based in Carefree, Arizona, Foothills Caring Corps is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting independence and enhancing the quality of life for older adults and adults with disabling conditions throughout the communities of Cave Creek, Carefree, North Scottsdale, North Phoenix, and Anthem.
The funding from Thunderbirds Charities will support FCC’s Volunteer Transportation Program—one of its most vital services. This program provides rides to medical appointments, grocery stores, planned social events, and other important destinations for vulnerable neighbors who are aging in place.
“With this generous grant, we’ll be able to provide essential rides to Neighbors who rely on us for their transportation and socialization needs,” said Brent Downs, Executive Director of Foothills Caring Corps. “Access to transportation isn’t just about getting from point A to point B—it’s about preserving dignity, health, and connection. For many of our Neighbors, these rides are lifelines.”
The Transportation Program relies on a network of over 300 trained and background-checked volunteers who donate their time and bring compassion to these Neighbors, who are all members of the Foothills community. In 2024 alone, Foothills Caring Corps coordinated more than 30,000 meaningful service touchpoints, helping residents in the region remain in their homes and communities, delay or avoid institutional care, and live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Now in its 25th year, Foothills Caring Corps continues to grow and adapt to meet rising demand, as the area’s aging population increases. Thanks to Thunderbirds Charities, this funding will help FCC expand capacity and meet this urgent need in the months ahead.
