Thunderbirds Charities Award $700,000 to Fund Critical Homelessness Services with Keys to Change

“Homelessness is on the rise in Maricopa County, and we need meaningful, long-term strategies to address the complex issues that contribute to this trend,” says Keys to Change CEO Amy Schwabenlender. “At the same time, we need to continue to meet the needs of our neighbors experiencing homelessness right now, today. Keys to Change does both.”

“We provide immediate emergency relief in a compassionate setting at Key Campus, while also crucially addressing the structural issues that brought us to this point. Last year, we connected 18,000 individuals (about the seating capacity of PHX Arena) with emergency shelter, food, clothing, housing navigation, and mental, physical, and dental healthcare.”

“Grant funding from the Thunderbirds Charities goes directly to the maintenance and expansion of these life-saving service connections. Their support for the day-to-day work of Keys to Change allows us to set our sights on a brighter, more equitable future for all. Our mission is to end homelessness in Maricopa County – with support from partners like the Thunderbirds, we’re one step closer to reaching that goal.”
