Thanks to the generous support of Thunderbirds Charities, Teach For America Phoenix’s Innovative Response to COVID-19 project has been able to transform our teacher learning and development program to prepare teachers for effective distance learning, accelerating student academic and personal growth in Arizona. Support from Thunderbirds Charities will directly impact our Teacher Support Team by allowing more frequent 1:1 virtual support for teachers and a differentiated approach to coaching through customized professional development opportunities. Teach For America Phoenix Executive Director, Katie Tennessen Hooten says, “Teach For America Phoenix’s Innovative Response to COVID-19 will continue to expand educational opportunities in Arizona, and we are grateful to Thunderbirds Charities for its partnership to help ensure all children receive an excellent and equitable education.” Over 10,000 students across 55 schools in Maricopa County will benefit from this project during the 2020-2021 school year.
