Paz de Cristo Community Center has been a recipient of the Thunderbirds Charities Fall 2023 grant award to support relief services for individuals experiencing homelessness. With the expansion of services and programs, the organization plans to serve over 300,000 meals to 12,000 people.
Executive Director, Jackie Shelley, states, “We are so grateful for the support the Thunderbirds Charities have given to Paz de Cristo Community Center over the years. They are truly making a difference in the lives of those struggling with hunger, poverty, and homelessness, and we appreciate their partnership in our mission to feed, clothe, and empower our neighbors in need.”
Thunderbirds Charities have contributed over $104,000 to Paz de Cristo since 2011. With the continued support of Thunderbirds Charities, Paz de Cristo hopes to help eliminate barriers for those who are struggling to provide healthy and nourishing meals for themselves and their families. Signature programs include food box distributions that provide healthy foods to those who are struggling to afford food or other necessities. This year, the organization plans to focus on removing the barrier of food insecurity by creating a program for those whose finances do not allow them to qualify for SNAP and other government assistance.
