Feeding Matters Awarded Thunderbirds Charities Grant

Funds will support Feeding Matters’ signature parent coaching program, Power of Two.

PHOENIX, Ariz. (January 4, 2018) – Arizona-based nonprofit Feeding Matters – the only organization in the world dedicated to advancing the research, identification, and collaborative care of pediatric feeding disorders – has received a support grant from Thunderbirds Charities, the charitable giving arm of the Thunderbirds – hosts of the Waste Management Phoenix Open. The grant will support Feeding Matters’ life-changing Power of Two program.

“It is beyond exciting to have such a groundbreaking organization founded and based right here in Arizona,” said Thunderbirds Charities President Andy Markham. “We know our collaboration with Feeding Matters will improve the lives of countless children and families, and we are honored to play a part in their work.”

Families navigating pediatric feeding disorders often feel isolated and overwhelmed with the medical, emotional, financial, educational, and social issues they face. The Power of Two program matches parents who are beginning their journey with pediatric feeding disorders with a seasoned parent coach who has been through a similar experience, offering emotional support, resources, and guidance.

“Families are empowered to be their child’s best advocate because of the nurturing and support they receive through the Power of Two program,” adds Feeding Matters President and CEO Chris Linn. “Thanks to the ongoing support of organizations like Thunderbirds Charities, this life-changing program will continue to expand to support the growing need of families struggling pediatric feeding disorders.”

Thunderbirds Charities is a non-profit organization formed in 1986 to distribute monies raised through the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament. The Thunderbirds Charities Board consists of 15 board members from varying professional backgrounds. The mission of Thunderbirds Charities is to assist children and families, help people in need and improve the quality of life in our communities. The organization’s giving is directed toward organizations based or with a significant presence in Arizona. For more information on Thunderbirds Charities, visit www.thunderbirdscharities.org.
