About Care’s Expansion into Queen Creek Seeking Volunteers & Donors

Chandler, AZ – The Board of Directors for About Care, an East Valley-based 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization, are please to announce that the Thunderbirds Charities granted $25,000 to help About Care will be expanding its volunteer services to rural areas in the South East Valley. Support of this program will directly impact our less fortunate neighbors. The majority of our clients are economically disadvantaged elderly women who need help with transportation to medical appointments. With the generosity of the Thunderbirds Charities, About Care volunteers will help our neighbors meet their basic needs, reduce isolation and remain independent in their homes.

About Care enters the lives of those it serves at a time of change. It provides opportunities for its volunteers to focus outside themselves and find meaning in helping others who have suffered the loss of their health, driving privilege, a spouse, etc. Volunteers focus on the abilities and strengths of the Neighbors we serve, and then do “little things with great love” to provide the encouragement and support people need to be able to do what they thought was no longer possible for them. Volunteer training emphasizes that About Care’s purpose is to create self-confidence and independence.

About Care’s services, at no charge, include transportation, shopping and errands, respite, friendly visits, reassurance phone calls, minor home repairs, business help, information & referrals. In the past year, volunteers helped over 500 neighbors, provided 30,451 services, donated over 50,000 hours and drove over 406,187 miles in service to our community. Please consider helping your neighbors remain independent in their own homes and meet their basic needs.

About Care. It’s About Time – to help our neighbors!
